FERGUSA was named in honour of our beloved family pet, Fergus. He was a truly special boy — calm, patient, and deeply intuitive. As a Therapy Dog, Fergus touched countless lives, and he’s pictured to the left meeting Louise Minchin on BBC News one morning with Wendy.
Fergus, alongside the dogs who came before him, inspired us to search for better nutrition for the animals in our care. Over the years, we welcomed many rescue dogs, often arriving with medical or health issues rooted in poor diets and difficult starts to life. Their needs showed us just how essential highly nutritious food is for every pet’s wellbeing.
Fergus, a pedigree Wolfhound who had been fed well from the very beginning, showed us the remarkable difference a high-quality diet can make throughout a dog’s entire lifespan. Years later — after extensive research, passion, and determination — FERGUSA was born.
Today, the FERGUSA family spans two generations. It has been a privilege to take the business as it was and develop it into the brand it has become. Our love extends beyond dogs to include cats, and with that broader mission came the need for a rebrand. While we celebrate our beginnings, we’re also excited to embrace the future under our new brand, Wolf & Whiskers.
Emma has spent years working closely with dogs, once caring for a personal pack of five before beginning her work with a dedicated dog charity. Not only did she foster numerous dogs, but she also became part of the team offering guidance to new pet owners—and in some cases, was the one who stepped in to take dogs back when challenges arose.
Her experience spans a wide range of breeds, behaviours, and complex cases. Emma has supported many successful rehabilitations, and at one point managed the care of twelve dogs in her tiny cottage—each receiving the patience, structure, and compassion they needed.
In addition to her canine work, Emma has collaborated with PAWPURRS charity in Manchester, fostering feral, ill, and elderly cats, as well as providing emergency placements at short notice.
Emma is deeply committed to doing whatever she can to support innocent animals who have been dumped, abandoned, or left without a safe place to go. Her dedication and calm, caring approach make her an invaluable advocate for the animals who need it most.
Tony has had many dogs in his life, tackling some more problematic dogs he rehabilitated. He is now dedicated to training his horses and is a true empath, and is dedicated to animals.
Wendy and Don are continuing their commitment to the Wolfhound charity (links on the left) and showing Hamish their Champion Wolfhound, who also bagged Best Of Breed at two other national shows, including being part of the Wolfhound club at Crufts.
Our dedication to every dog and cat owner drives us to create exceptional recipes and to continuously innovate for the pets we love.
